Behind the Scenes Insights

CharacterS

I enjoy a variety of characters that each reflect varying degrees of loyalty, determination, curiosity, bravery (even if afraid), humor, self-acceptance, sees the big picture and alternatives, thinks outside the box, but can also be impulsive if angry/upset, and has flaws that create conflicts. I'll periodically share information about my characters on the Bits and Pieces page.

miscellaneous

I explore a variety of themes, tropes, emotions, as well as my favorite elements (ticking clock, full moon, synchronicity, 'timey whimey', secret doors, hidden places and treasures, and odd coincidences). I'll periodically share information about these on the Bits and Pieces page.

Location scouting

I scout out real locations before and during the creation of my books. I'll take pictures, search out places to eat, the road conditions, weather, etc. I'll be including pictures and interesting info I find on the various real locations on the Pits and Pieces page.

What are your new releases?

To stay updated on my newest releases, check the 'R.E.D. Trilogy ' tab in the navigation bar. Two new novels will be coming out in 2026. In 2027, I will be starting a whole new series. My 'Dark Seighly' novels will be listed in the navigation bar as soon as they are ready for release.

Do you write under any other names?

My books have been published under slightly different versions of my name so you can easily separate age appropriate stories. Middle Grade through Young Adult (K D Blakely) Older Young Adult & Fairy Tale retellings (Karen Blakely) Stories with adult characters 20's and older (Kat Blakely).
